We left Malayasia early this morning back to Lombok (Kerala stayed with our homestay while we border hopped). When we got to customs we got held up! While we waited for the immigration officers to scan our passports and boarding passes, I nervously looked at Chris. In my head I was thinking, "They're onto us! They might know that we border hopped! Why are they asking us for our flight information (over and over again)?!?!" I could see from Chris' expression that he was thinking the same.
After about 10 minutes, they stamped our passports and we were kindly escorted out the doors. When we turned the corner to exit, we were shocked to be greeted by a room full of people clapping and cheering! Live music, cameras, lights, government officials, the airport manager, journalists and reports all greeted us with gifts (the scarves we are wearing in the picture) and snacks. It turns out that we were the first passengers to exit Air Asia's brand new early morning flight from Malaysia to Lombok which debuted this morning. Here we are with all the big hotshots (that will be featured in the local paper) holding our hands up in an "L" for Lombok!
