Afghanistan thrashed Bangladesh in the final group B fixture by a huge margin of 136 runs. Afghanistan won the toss and tried to replicate the same decision of batting first in Abu Dhabi. Openers Ihsanullah and Mohammad Shahzad had a quiet start. Ihsanullah tried to cut loose but ended up giving a catch at cover point as the debutant Abu Hider claimed his maiden wicket. Rahmat shah too could not play a longer innings as the same bowler knocked off his off stump with a beautiful delivery. Things looked shaky for Afghanistan and a 51 run partnership between Mohammad Shahzad and Hasmatullah Shahidi ensured some respite. Mohammad Shahzad was dismissed for 37 after Abu Hider claimed a stunning catch off Shakib. The Captain, Asghar Stanikzai, Samiullah Shenwari and Mohammad Nabi were Shakib's other victims as they try to increase the scoring rate and ended up losing wickets. Hasmatullah Shahidi's lone innings ended with a caught behind off Rubel Hossain at 58 keeping Afghanistan's hopes dashed. Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan batted with a lot more aggression to ensure that Afghanistan make it past 200. The late blows from Rashid Khan stunned Bangladesh's bowlers as Gulbadin Naib too helped with slogging at the other end. This partnership yielded 95 runs off 57 deliveries taking Afghanistan to a strong 255/7 in their 50 overs. Shakib Al Hasan was Bangladesh's best bowler with 4 wickets. Bangladesh's reply was not as expected as Nazmul Hossain chipped one off Mujeeb to Aftab as Afghanistan claimed their first wicket. Liton Das, Mohammad Mithun and Mominul Haque departed soon, with the latter dismissed by a good review from Gulbadin Naib to verify whether the batsman edged the ball. There was a steady partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah which was broken by Rashid Khan. More spin was experimented with Samiullah Shenwari and Rahmat Shah, the latter picked up the wicket of Mehidy Hasan in his first ball. Mosaddek Hossain provided some resistance but eventually collapsed to 119 all out in 42.1 overs. Rashid Khan's birthday special was highly regarded. It also involved contributions from Gulbadin Naib and Hasmatullah Shahidi for a massive Afghanistan Victory.
