The trade rumors surrounding New York Knicks star scorer, Carmelo Anthony, continue as a new team enters the race and another falls out.
A member of the Knicks since 2011, it has been a while since Melo has played in an NBA playoff game. That and the drama between former GM and President of Basketball Operations, Phil Jackson, and Carmelo has formed a seemingly unfixable rift in the franchise that may ultimately lead to Melo being traded to a new team. However, Carmelo Anthony's contract has a No-Trade clause which gives Melo the power the veto any trade that the Knicks arrange should he not agree to the conditions of the trade.
Despite the eventual firing of Phil Jackson, the Knicks and Carmelo Anthony have made it clear that neither party wishes to stay together come the 2017-18 NBA season. With his announcement of his desire to leave the Knicks, Carmelo stated that the two teams he would void his No-Trade clause for would be the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets.
Recently however, the Cavs fell out of the race when the whole Kyrie Irving trade rumors were put out onto the public's ears. That left only the Rockets who, with the recent acquisition of Chris Paul, appear on paper to be a solid title contender.
Along with the Rockets, it appears that the Oklahoma City Thunder have entered the Carmelo race as it was rumored that their may be mutual interest between the two parties. A trio of NBA MVP, Russell Westbrook, superstar Paul George, and premier scorer Carmelo Anthony may be enough to push OKC past the Warriors come the NBA playoffs.
