Decked for the holidays from @godzilla1950 - At 1325 Lamar Ave...this excellent example of an Italianate villa was built in 1855 by druggist wholesaler Dr. Samuel Mansfield. However in 1869, he sold the 13 room mansion to Robert Brinkley who gave the manse as a wedding gift to his daughter Annie. The house was named “Annesdale” in her honor. She married into the prominent Snowden family. The Snowden’s lived in that house 160yrs till the last family member died in 2006. In 2009 the house was emptied of its contents thru an estate sale & the house is currently used as event venue. Please swipe to see 3/4 view! .
The Edward Pierce House built in 1868. It makes me a little sad to share this one. Jonathan and I very seriously looked into buying this house when we were moving to Aurora. I believe it had 5 bedrooms and 3(?) bathrooms and an original two story carriage house. It needed some work and still does, but the land, the house, and the neighborhood would have made it worth it. Still I have hopes the owners will restore it to its former glory. Italianate style with the same characteristics as a few others posted earlier, although the classical style porch was added later. #aurora#illinois#auroraillinois#architecture#italianate#italianatearchitecture#italianatestyle#italianatehouse
