Old Pulteney 1989 Heritage Lightly peated Ltd Ed, 46% abv.
I haven't tried many old Old Pulteney, so this is a bit exciting!
At first there is a gentle aroma of smoke and sea, followed by tropical fruits, lychee, melon, mango, some citrus, floral and herbal notes, almonds, bread, vanilla, some wax and old wood.
Taste, tropical fruits, citrus, mango, apricots, ripe banana, apple blossom, elder flower, heather honey, beeswax, coconut, vanilla, light smoke and oak.
The finish, tropical fruits, orange, coconut, mango, gentle smoke, wood, sea, salt, some toffee and spice, pepper, liquorice at the end. The finish is perhaps a bit short, but it is a good dram nonetheless. Delicate, complex and what it says on the bottle, lightly peated.
When I added some water, I got more peat, or maybe it was because it had been sitting in the glass for a while?
Thank you @whiskyebb for the sample!
