Curlies and Natti's, both in the hippie Anjuna area, were the only places I had missed from my first visit to Goa in 2016. Curlies for the divine Satay prawns and Natti's for it's chill hipster vibe and superfood smoothies, not so commonly found in the parts of India I mostly frequent. This chocolate addict here could just feel her mouth water by the mere thought of their smoothie, appropriately named Chocolate addiction.
On our way back to Candolim from a beach day in Ashvem, I was able to persuade my boyfriend to take a quick break at this place for a 5 o'clock chai, or smoothie I mean. The high price would totally be worth it, I promised, when he was sceptical about the cafe. I was remembering the smoothie as a life-or-Goa-changing experience.
But as we got to the mosquito occupied garden terrace and finally shared the smoothies together, I was dumbstruck. The smoothie that I paid over 300rs for was not even nearly as good as many others we'd had for only a third of that price. I guess I only thought so highly of this place, because it was the only place I liked that I visited on my first Goa trip with another Indian friend as a guide. Now I felt scammed by my own memory and stupid for having to get the trendy, overpriced smoothie.
On the plus side I made this new friend and with doggos no place can ever go too wrong.
If looking for trendy health cafes in the area try out Baba Au Rhum or Artjuna! Those places are so beautiful and artsy with great menus, but also a bit more reasonably priced I think. Another tip is that many places run by foreigners have ridiculous pricing considering the local levels in general and there's really no difference in quality for better at least.
