I didn’t do the open last year.
I had only been crossfitting for a month ish, and I am pretty sure I had no clue what a thruster even was/I was still doing workouts with the training bar and strict pull-ups 🙈
I do remember doing 17.1 in a Friday morning class and then trying to run long the next day - mistakes were made, and I promptly started avoiding the gym for the remaining 4 Fridays.
I was on the fence about signing up for the open this year because 1. Running is still a thing I do sometimes and 2. Crossfit is already my most expensive thing, why pay another $20?
But I’m so glad I did it!
I learned so much.
My handstand push-ups aren’t as good as I thought 🙄
I’m pretty sure the 7 minutes I spent throwing myself at the rings made something click for my kip and now I can finally link my toes to bar consistently.
I PR’d my power clean and my deadlift.
I still managed to get a couple of Saturday long runs in.
I’m getting better at recovery and starting to figure out nutrition.
It was a ton of type 2 fun, and that’s my favorite kind of fun.
And I have a whole list of things to tackle/improve/work on for next year.
