Statue on my mind

It’s just been raining none stop. I’m craving a comforting bowl of arroz caldo! Stay warm and dry, people!

No shortcuts to any place worth going.

This child is napping peacefully amongst the rhythm of loom weaving and mechanical sewing machines. In these places, you will experience quietness as loom weavers concentrate on their craft.
One thing I have found is that weaving has saved orphans and allowed mothers to work while taking care of their children. The weaving community is both a family and a means of livelihood. Oftentimes, children are found on the premises and, in areas with no shared service facility, the looms are placed in the homes of the weavers so they can work and take care of their children.
In the Philippines, weaving is an art and tradition that goes way beyond the first colonizers of the country. These fine weaves were once traded for precious jewels and metals of neighboring countries. In the past decade, there has been a revival of interest in this craft and a great push to support the growth of this industry while protecting the weavers' quality of life and tradition.
