This sign is iconic and memorable in many ways when I was a kid. It was on our grandpas house and I would ask what it meant.. apparently it was stuck on by a family from Hawaii and was a greeting translated hello. Visited every second weekend by plane as an unaccompanied minor from a young age that I would recognise the regular flight attendants and service desk staff every fortnight. Revisited this sign last week and brought back a lot of childhood memories with all the cousins. Funnily enough I will normally say Aloha every now and then on a daily basis... subliminal messaging at its finest.
