Now listen this is really important. I have a life lesson for you all. I remember in a 4th of July tournament when I played 15u ball, I was on fire. I felt like it owned the world. I went 8 for 10 with 4 Homers, 1 Triple, 1 Double, and 2 singles. I was seeing the ball really well. I went on thinking I was the best as we won the championship. Our next tournament for the following week, reality struck me. I went 0 for 8 with 7k’s and a ground out. I went on thinking I was still the best from the original tournament, and then the next tournament came along, guess what happened again, I failed. I refused to take advice from the people who know best. My coaches. Finally, I hit rock bottom. I batted .091 in the fall season with multiple errors in the field. I was convinced I was a failure. With no way to come back up. Now this is very important in life. When things are going great for you, you run with them as long as you can. But you have to know that the reality is it won’t always stay that way. Once you start to fall again. Realize it, take notes. If you hit rock bottom, don’t think as the bad coming out of it. Think that there is only one way to go, and that way is up. If you see you are falling, listen to people’s suggestions. Don’t be like me when I didn’t listen to my coaches because I thought I was the coolest person around. And yes, I did recover because I listened to them in the winter. The following spring in 16u, I batted .367! So my advice be coachable, whether it is in sports or just everyday regular life.
