If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a picture plus a story is worth...I couldn’t resist writing a story and mixing it with the decor of our hotel. This is a one time tale-So Enjoy!
My divorce was ugly-so ugly that I never thought that I would recover. I had spent the last six months buried amongst despair and depression, wallowing in self pity. Johan, had been my everything, I had met him as a senior at New York University. We had moved to Los Angeles shortly after we graduated and he had climbed the ranks at my father’s film studio, then later branched out and made a name of his own. We had the perfect life, the house in the Hollywood Hills-you know the one, surrounded by glass, a water fall pool and more cars than one even needed. I was the perfect wife-or so I thought. Then I came home one day and found Johan in bed with my best friend. Now Jackie was the perfect wife. I was thrown out, without an explanation. No, there was an explanation-after ten years of marriage he didn’t love me. As a matter-of-fact, according to Johan, he never loved me. I was a means to an end. Or shall I say my family’s name and money was a means to an end. The Devlin name helped him climb the social ladder in Hollywood.
I took the key card from the clerk at the front desk who looked at me with sympathetic eyes-my face and our contentious divorce- had been plastered all over the news and in every gossip magazine known to man. All I wanted was some time away. I rented a room at the Beverly Garland Hotel. Living in my childhood room with my parent’s house was no longer an option. I needed to regroup.
I slipped onto my floor of the hotel and opened up the door to my room. Something was not right. The room was a mess...and there laying in the middle of the bed was Jackie-Johan’s new wife, covered in blood. I ran back out to the phone located by the elevator. “Hello? Front desk, I’d like to report a murder on the 6th floor” I yelled panicked.
