The best style of yoga practice is the one that you will show up for. Yoga practice allows you to commune with yourself — to shut off distractions and just be and breathe — to begin (or continue) to get to know yourself, who you really are. IMO, that’s the most important benefit — the shedding of so many layers of identity, the getting-to-know the divine, holy nature that you contain. The physical benefits are great, sure — but there’s so much more.
It doesn’t matter which style you feel drawn to practice. If you’ll show up and do it for yourself, then it’s perfect for you right now. Conversely, just because a certain style or teacher doesn’t work for you, doesn’t mean that it’s not a great benefit for someone else.
I see value in all the practices. I’m grateful to all of the teachers for their service. 🙏🏼
I’m also beyond grateful to all of the studio owners who’ve given me a place to serve. I’m teaching the #bikrammethod @forgehotyoga (Happy Valley location) tonight at 5:00PM and next Thursday night, as well. If you’re in #pdx and you like it hot, come out and get sweaty and commune with your beautiful, holy self. #myfirstyogapractice #yogaroots
