Are all Deadlifts created equal? There is a lot of misconception in the strength world as to how a Deadlift should look. Some people say it needs to be a straight bar, others swear by the trap bar and still some believe sumo is cheating. Honestly, unless you are a competitor in a specific sport such as powerlifting, throw that out the window and start picking up heavy stuff. If you can learn the hip hinge movement pattern, keep a neutral spine and pick up heavy stuff you are golden! My clients had been wanting to deadlift heavy for a while so I had them hit these banded Landmine Deadlifts and boy did they rock their world! Grab something heavy, pick it up, put it back down, be super strong 💪🏻

I’ve struggled in the past to build muscle on the hip area to get that hourglass body shape. With the right exercises and increasing my calorie intake (with the right food) has massively helped me to create some curves. Petite girls will understand the struggle but I’m here to tell you it’s possible and I’m really starting to love the body I’m in. Yes it’s taken hard work and dedication but it’s so worth it!

In order to transform my body, I had to transform my habits.
✖️Instead of grabbing breakfast at Starbucks, lunch at work, and picking up take out for dinner, I carved out time on Sunday mornings to grocery shop and prep my meals for the week. I always thought eating healthy was expensive, but really eating out for 3 meals a day is what had me feeling like there was a hole in my pocket 😶
✖️ I changed my drinking habits. Instead of nightly bottles of wine, I now enjoy a glass or two a few times a week 🍷. I also don’t go out as often, and in turn I’m not only saving money but I’m saving my results (and let’s be real, saving myself from drunk texting nightmares 😇)!
✖️ I started to set my alarm an hour earlier, and go to bed an hour earlier, because I decided that mornings were the best time for me to workout 🌄 the time in the day where the world & your mind is still quiet.
✖️ I started being to girl to bring healthy options to work or family parties, that way I could be sure I have something to enjoy guilt-free 🥕
The thing is: nothing changes if nothing changes. A lot of people want the transformation but aren’t willing to tweak their lifestyle in order to achieve it. I’m leveling up for the next few months because I know where I want to be by summer 2019 👙 - and that will require building and sticking to new habits! So you wanna just do it together? I’ve talked about eccentric focused exercises before and why they’re awesome!

The short version of why they rock:
the squat for example.
⬇️Going down into the squat (aka loading phase) is the eccentric phase of the movement. Durning this phase your muscles are under the most tension and pressure as they withstand the weight they’re under.
🔥Once they can’t take it any more, you explode up⬆️ to stand and squeeze the glutes at the top of the squat, which is the concentric phase.

So the moral of the story is: it’s good to let the weight down slowly sometimes! Focusing on eccentric motion during exercise can maximize your muscle growth and strength, because most of the tearing of tiny muscle fibers is done during the eccentric phase.

Full Leg Workout 🏋🏼‍♀️ This workout consists of 3 circuits which will burn your booty while building leg strength. Most of the exercises are unilateral (single leg) which is great for targeting your glutes while incorporating core strength and stability 🍑 Just grab yourself a box (or step) and some dumbbells and off you go: ➡️ Superset A. 4 rounds: 10x Box Goblet Squats & 10x Box Jumps (land softly, bending the legs to absorb the impact on your jumps) ➡️ Superset B. Dropset for 4 rounds. 10x Bulgarian Split Squat straight into 10 bodyweight reps on the same leg. Then switch sides. Form a right angle with the front knee as you drop down and push up through the front heel. ➡️ Triset 3. 4 rounds. 10x Reverse Lunges (per leg). 10x Lateral Step Ups (per leg) - one of my favourites!). 20x Alternating Step Ups. 🔥 Remember, these videos are sped up so take your time and focus on using good form!
