Let me tell you about my favorite museum. Glenstone represents everything I strive for as a collector - deliberate and deep. Of the two shows I've seen, I was exposed to how valuable it is to acquire work throughout an artist's career. And in doing so, acquiring the range of works that tell the artist's full story. Of course, deliberate collecting is important in choosing the highest quality works to best tell that story. Two years ago, it was Fred Sandback. Last year, Roni Horn. With both shows, Glenstone did a phenomenal job doing the works justice - giving each piece just enough space and providing an environment to let the art interact - as it should - with changing natural lighting. Oh, and admission is always free. Growing up around DC with free access to art through the Smithsonian always makes appreciate others who have given back.
Check out "Pink Tons" by Roni Horn before the show closes January 28.
Please note, I received special permission to take pictures at Glenstone. Photography is otherwise not permitted in the galleries.
