Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) is pretty much a drawn out Star Trek episode. I mean, it's quite good. The visuals in the film are fantastic, the music is great, and the acting is also stellar. But there are a lot of quiet, dull, nothing happening scenes. Things move a little too slowly for my taste. It seems to be trying to take notes from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
One of Filmations best looking cartoons from the time.
It's went from canon to not canon back to being kind of canon to it being considered the 4th season fans originally wanted by D.C. Fontana. Regardless, all the original cast is here (with the exception of Walter Koenig because Chekov is missing from the show but he did write two episodes) as well as D.C. Fontana and Gene Rodenberry as Executive Producers.
Fun fact - this is the show where Kirk got his middle name Tiberius. Up until the animated show, he was just James T. Kirk.

Found a few treasures while clearing out the attic today. Gotta wonder how long they were behind that shelf! And of course, the ViewMaster slides are from Star Trek the Original Series. The cards are from O-Pee-Chee in 1979. Anyone recognize the players?
Oh My! The legendary @georgehtakei is a force for education, inclusion and kindness. Plus, he’s got perhaps the greatest laugh of all time. So lucky to run into him & learn so much about our nation’s history. Something I never knew: CA AG Earl Warren was one of the strongest advocates of Japanese American internment. He thought it would help his poll numbers. He later regretted it and as Supreme Court Chief Justice, ruled that “separate is unequal” when it comes to schools & race (Brown v Board) #startrek#sulu#georgetakei#internment#lgbtq#history#howardstern#fox11forlife#losangeles
