I’ve been a distance runner my entire life, and was even going to run in college, but I came to realize that all of that pounding pavement was proving detrimental to my muscles and joints. Part of my fitness journey has been learning to embrace all different types of workouts, since each type works certain muscle groups. I’ve since migrated from doing the same thing every day, and I include all types ranging from boxing, to pilates, to all sorts of classes at Equinox, and more recently Yoga. When I first started practicing Yoga, I saw all of these photos of people doing crazyyy positions and initially I thought, "wow I have a long way to go." But yoga is not a competition! It is about embracing the now and enjoying the journey to mastery. I’m nowhere near mastery, but I greatly appreciate the spiritual side of the practice and the mindfulness it instills in me. I’m loving the journey so far!
