🌎 Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭 -
– Yi Peng (Lantern Festival)
#YiPeng or #YeePeng (local name) is part of the #festivaloflights in Northern #Thailand to show respect to Buddha. It's date usually coincides with #LoiKrathong which all of Thailand celebrates using floating lights on water. In Northern Thailand Yi Peng, which is celebrated alongside Loi Krathong, is different in that lights are placed into sky lanterns which float up into the air.
This #Thai Festival is held all over the country, but there are particularly beautiful celebrations held in #ChiangMai, #Ayutthaya and #Sukhothai, where the celebrations take place over several days. Other celebrations are now held throughout Thailand including #Bangkok, #Phuket and #Pattaya, as well as parts of #Myanmar (Shan State) and Laos
In 2017, full moon falls on the second week of November ut in many places (including Chiang Mai) the main celebration will be from Friday, 3 November to Sunday, 5 November, 2017. -
