Shout-out to dads this morning. We know that as a society, parenting glory usually goes to the moms. But we think dads are just as important and vital in their children’s lives. So today we want to say that we see you dads. We see you changing those diapers and waking for late night feedings. We see you kissing boo boos and matching socks. We see you attending band concerts, ballet recitals, soccer games, and parent-teacher conferences. We see you helping with homework, embarrassing your teens, and waiting up late for your kids to come home. We see you working countless hours to provide for your family. We see you working on your home and yard to ensure your family has a safe and comfortable place to live. We see you bringing your family to church and leading them into a relationship with God.
As a society we also tend to paint dads as mistake-makers, goof-ups, or incapable of basic parenting tasks (you’ve all seen those baby onesies with the armholes, leg-holes, and head holes labeled for dads, right?). But have confidence in your skills! You got this dads. You’re capable, able, and full of strength. Proverbs 14:26 says, “Confidence and strength flood the hearts of the lovers of God who live in awe of him, and their devotion provides their children with a place of shelter and security.” So this Father’s Day, rest easy knowing you’ve got the skills it takes because you love the great Father to us all. Share with the amazing fathers in your life!
