Today is World Food Day. The theme this year is #ZeroHunger.
What is Zero Hunger: To me–and to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations–it means working together to ensure everyone, everywhere, has access to the safe, healthy and nutritious food they need.
How can we achieve this seemingly massive task? √adopt a more sustainable lifestyle: shop local, eat local, eat in season, reduce your own food waste by turning leftovers into makeovers
√work with others and share our knowledge: educate, talk openly, participate in grassroots activities
√ be willing and open to help change the world–for the better: donate GOOD food to food banks, encourage local restaurants to share their leftovers, volunteer, purchase goods that support small farmers in developing countries.
I'm speaking out today because I believe that by raising awareness we can all make a difference. What are you doing to achieve Zero Hunger? Share some ideas in the comments. ***
