Before every working set I have a little ritual that I go through to make sure that I'm grounded, mentally and physically in the moment, and that I've reviewed what I need to do to make the set a success. Today there was an added element in that I've been dealing with some forearm issues for about three weeks that hasn't let up even following a full week completely out of the gym as well as an extreme deload week. So yesterday I had some anti inflammatory injections done and today was the big test. I wanted to be aware of how I was feeling but also not let that be a distraction if it didn't have to be. As luck would have it today rack deads were on the agenda which meant maximum weight being held by the injured forearm. I played it safe and went one plate below my typical heavy working set which allowed me two sets with 765. Both went smooth and now hours later I can say my forearm feels solid, not perfect but solid. Looks like I'll live to lift again.
