Bear with me, it’s going to be a long caption (that’s a warning ⚠️), yet worth the read.
So as you can see I have a pile of books laying on my study and loads of work to get done by this month; yet my curiosity has lured me to run away from the academic casse-tête to embark on a time-traveling journey to Córdoba in 929 through this mesmerising book offered by my spanish colleague and “cabrón” friend @davvicto
Al Mozarabe (spanish to our Arabic term “Al Mosta’areb”).
Just managed to read the intro, which stages an immediate teleportation to the splendid era of the Arabic Caliphate of Córdoba.
Reading about the two main characters somehow reflects my friendship and the long cultural discussions (and arguments) David & I constantly have, on growing in different cultures, different faith, different identity, however making it big.
I will try to squeeze some time for a non-academic reading (if only I will ever be successful), but that’s for sure a book that has set me on planning another Andalusian time-out
