"The staff at Bearskin Meadow Camp were the ones who showed me just how important it is to take care of myself and instilled the confidence in me to know I am strong enough to handle anything diabetes throws my way. This disease is hard, unpredictable, and relentless. But the people I know with type 1 are the most resilient, compassionate, and dedicated group around. At camp, I have the privilege of being surrounded by those who understand my bad days, laugh when we wake up with pump tubing wrapped every arm and leg, and inspire me to keep improving the way I care for myself and my diabetes.
Even though I'm too old to go back as a camper, I am lucky enough that they invited me to be one of their social workers. The two beauties in this photo with me were some of my first campers when I worked as a counselor during college, who are now counselors themselves. If you ever get the chance to attend any diabetes camp, GO!" - @the_renster
