The need to be right and the need to be recognized are traps. Give them a wide berth. They are fatal attachments that do nothing but take.
Having to always prove our point and defend our position, despite the cost, just so we can stay in the illusion of being right, will isolate us from everyone we love.
Forever reading our resume to others so they know who we are or pointing out our contribution so we get the credit we think we deserve pushes joy to the background because the need to be recognized is born of the fear of being forgotten. .
Neither of these practices live in the faith of “All my needs are met”. As a matter fact, they live in the fear of “It’s me against the world”.
Trust, generosity, and compassion are difficult to cultivate from that consciousness. But it is the simplest acts of those very things that begin to shift our experience. It will require some bravery to act contrary to the ego.
It doesn't matter how afraid you may be or how empty you think you are. You always have something to give. So give it. The universe abhors a vacuum so there won’t be an empty space there for long.
