Athlete Spot Light: Phil Mant
Phil joined us on our Semi Private Coached Athlete program .
He decided he needed structure with his Duathlon and Marathon training, accountability and support to get the best in his races this season. .
After a sold block of consistent training he’s showing good form. .
Phil placed 12th overall in at Portsmouth Duathlon last weekend putting down some quality power on the bike. .
He also ran a PB at Manchester Marathon, this is what he said in his race report. “So considering I haven’t run over 10 miles in training sessions I managed to set a PB of 3:06:53 in Manchester marathon. Annoyingly not under the 3:05 for a London age place but a huge improvement on my previous attempt. My pacing was a lot stronger throughout and didn’t lose the plot past mile 20.
Lots of positives tho, I have improved and I managed to keep a consistent flow of training building up to the race. My pacing was spot on for 20 miles of the race and I’m looking forward to smashing it next time and now know I’m capable of the 3h challenge :)”
With Phil’s plan we’ve focused on specificity, pace work in the run, brick build off and on the bike, pacing and power on the bike. .
Its shown him that it’s the sum of the whole of the training that’s important and that the cross over from bike to run is hugely beneficial to running. .
Nice one Phil, keep the consistency in training up let’s get those times down and your sights on a podium.
