| M I L L E N I A L V/S G E N X | oh yes, I still feel there’s a big debate and deliberate separation with this one...
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to mediate between the two generations...being a “Xennial” myself means I am constantly in-between the two...
Us Xennials, the age gap between 1977 and 1985, the micro generation that understands both generations...
It’s perfectly sane to admit to clients that Gen X & Boomers have a good point to be tough and have emotional control, but maybe they are a little too tough and having little to no emotion is not control, but actually it’s probably way out...Millenials showed us to feel is ok, but maybe they took it a bit too far, perhaps it needs more balancing out. Then there’s us in the middle that perhaps need to be a bit more optimistic ...It’s a bit more of a stereotype and generalisation.
There’s still truth in it, maybe we can all agree now that holding onto hurt gets us nowhere, acting like you have no feelings leads you to narcissism- the same way that self absorption does and feeling sorry for yourself. .
We all have a lot of “growing up” to do in each generation and teaching and learning from each other is probably the best way forward...it seems to me though that the Gen X have probably been a bit too proud, and as a result have the most to learn and heal. You can’t really put things in the back of your mind and expect them to just “poof” go away, that’s not how the subconscious works. #crapignoredisasnoballeffect. .
If you want to connect with the younger generation, you gotta remember we learn from everyone we meet, regardless what age, it’s never to late to understand each other and get along. :) #lettherebelight
