Observation on the death of #Blackmales
Qiu (2014) found that the number one cause of death for Black males, specifically ages 15 and 34, was homicide in 2011. It must be noted, that this is based on 1) #CentersforDiseaseControlandPrevention study and 2) the data did not describe the homicides (Qiu, 2014). In comparison to other racial groups, Black males ages 15 and 34 die from homicide at 40%, white men at 3.8%, and all other men at 14% (Qiu, 2014). Nolte (2016) found that in #Chicago there were 762 homicides more than #LosAngeles and #NewYorkCity and 75% to 80% of the shooting victims were Black. Parson and Vargas (2017) found that from 2012 to 2015, every 22 minutes a gun was stolen from a person or gun store nationwide, of which 1.2M from people and 22K from gun stores. Specifically, the States with high rates from owners 13% higher and stores 18% higher respectively are: #Tennessee, #Arkansas, #SouthCarolina, #Oklahoma, and #Alabama in comparison to #Hawaii, #Connecticut, #RhodeIsland, #NewYork, and #Massachusetts (Parson & Vargas, 2017). Endnote: From an international perspective, Reeves and Holmes (2015) found that Black males, ages 20-29 die at 89% per 100K due to homicide by a gun, in comparison to #Honduras , which has the highest murder rate, which is 90.4 per 100K.
