#Tag a player who wants to know if all of those basketball "gadgets" work!
I am an absolute proponent of using training aids to improve performance if utilized correctly. However training aids should not be the foundation of player development. We understand how to utilize training aids and often times there are "off label" uses that we create for the aid.
For instance, we're (@jetjones18, @adamiiismith, and @waynejr_3) utilizing the vertimax to increase explosive power but basketball specific power like the power needed for the rip through, one-dribble pull-up. The vertimax aids in developing that 45° lean needed for optimum explosiveness out of triple threat. The resistance helps with the "overspeed" component, once removed. We added the tennis ball drop for reactionary defensive closeouts!! Here is the key: a player should still be able to move at 85 to 90% of their max speed with the resistance. So 50 pound weight vests, or too much resistance, do nothing but compromise form and technique and become counterproductive. More is definitely not better in resistance scenarios.
