**This is for all of you** Today I had the opportunity to speak in front of students from pretty much every high school in the TCDSB about #community engagement and the power of when we come together. Unite us, don't divide us.
I feel like I failed. I was so nervous today so much so i couldn't believe how my emotions took over. I'm passionate about our youth and community. I wear my heart on my sleeve and it's who I am.
I believe so much in empowering our students, I believe so much in the idea of how we can come together and people who will help us rise and how we have to help others rise. It's not about you and me, it's about us and what we can do when we come together Unified.
It was great to have students come afterwards and staff and tell me how they loved my messaging and can see I was genuine and it came from my heart, which it did. I just wish I could have got more of it out, more of the sense of what i do and I'm just one person but how we can do so much when we support one another. That is a great part of my success.
How I create community in my program's and that life isn't perfect and that people will try to take you down because of envy or hate but never lose what you believe in. If you have pure intent it will shine through.
At times my mind is my greatest enemy but if I failed in my words today, my actions are what will speak for me and through that I will speak volumes.
Thank you! We are our future.
