Six years ago I helped found a middle school in Fort Worth, Texas with 6th & 7th graders in a renovated former Radio Shack building turned into an elementary school. Tonight, I witnessed those 7th graders graduate from high school as the first graduates of Uplift Mighty High School. It was an honor and privilege to speak in front of them. They are an incredible group of young men and women who will inevitably change the world for the better. They may have thought that I forgot about them, but I remembered each and every one of them. I carry their stories and lessons with me always... #classof2018#upliftmighty#cogitandoetagendoducemus#leadersnotfollowers#futurelooksbright#mystudentslookolderthanme
BIG CONGRATS to my girls! 🎓🤩 All 3 of you are such hardworking, independent, strong and beautiful souls. You all have inspired and taught me a lot more than you know this year. I wish nothing but the best and hopes of you receiving all the desires of your heart on your next journey! I love you ❣️ #classof2018
When did this happen?? When did you just grow up?? I remember the day you were born & I remember every step of the way, every year, every obstacle you’ve faced to get to this day. I know it might not seem like much at this moment but it’s huge & I find so much pride in knowing I was some sort of factor in getting you to this day! It hasn’t been easy & honestly it won’t get any easier but Kelli YOU did it! I will always look up to you *not just cause I’m shorter than you* but because I strive to be even a fraction of what you are. I’m so blessed to be your big sister & I can’t wait to see what you will achieve in life! Congratulations Kelli Ann I love you so much! #ClassOf2018#GoWildcats#MHS#MyBabySisterGraduated#mesquitehighschool#graduationday2018#iloveyou
@michelleobama shares her wisdom with #classof2018. @wakandasun says yassss to our #foreverfirstlady. @wakandasun launching 5.29.18. Repost from @michelleobama using @RepostRegramApp - This is me at Princeton in the early 1980s. I know that being a first-generation college student can be scary, because it was scary for me. I was black and from a working-class neighborhood in Chicago, while Princeton’s student body was generally white and well-to-do. I’d never stood out in a crowd or a classroom because of the color of my skin before. But I found close friends and a mentor who gave me the confidence to be myself. Going to college is hard work, but every day I meet people whose lives have been profoundly changed by education, just as mine was. My advice to students is to be brave and stay with it. Congratulations to the Class of 2018! #ReachHigher
