This is Chioma, she is 15 years of age and has been homeless for several months, living in an abandoned bus. During the day, she walks miles just to do any available menial job so she can atleast buy food and eat and if she’s unlucky with a job.. she goes to bed hungry. At night, she is awake driving off strangers who are trying to sexually and physically abuse her. Unfortunately, most of these strangers succeed in having their way with her especially the nights she goes to bed without food, hungry and weak.
A first glance at Chioma will make anyone question where she got the deep scars on her body from, but these stems from the mosquitoes, rats and cats in the area who see’s her as an intruder in their home (bus) and would rather feed off her body and also the fight she pulls off every other night from strangers who are trying to take what is left of her innocence and dignity as a child.
Chioma is still a child at 15 under the law and shouldn’t have to go through this (nobody should). Her mates are either in school or learning a skill and living in a ‘safe’ environment.
At SAF, we believe a child is a child. We have stepped into the situation, needs assessment on check and looking for the best possible ways to assist her. We will keep the public updated as she progresses. #saynotochildabuse #childneglect #saynotorape #thegirlchild #catchthemyoung #counselling #rehabilitation #thefutureisnow #ngo #achildisachild #sondoraaidefoundation #whereeverychildmatters #bethechangeyouwanttosee
