After the last post a lot of people were asking what happened next. Thankfully nothing happened. No one wants to see a tiger in such close quarters. In the end I freaked myself out with those tracks and got very lost in the bamboo labyrinth. Thing with getting lost is we have a reflexive tendency to keep pushing - as if five more minutes of frantic trampling is going to magically get us out. I’ve seen that reflex take people MILES away into the jungle. I’ve seen that reflex almost cost lives. So I try to do the opposite. Sit down. Shut up. Breath. I took a nice long recharge in this spot. Checking the map I thought it would be about two hours until I reached a road. In reality it would be an 8 hour hike.
Later that day I was walking and heard a popping noise. I crouched to see what the sound was and suddenly was lying on my back. Everything hurt. Then I realized I’d touched an electric elephant fence. I stayed down for some time. Then laughed. Long.ass.day.
