Meet Abhishek Shah
13 years – 2 Organizations – 6 different grade levels – 8 different jobs – 5 different countries lived…The numbers that define Abhishek’s corporate success story!! From starting as a Management Consultant bloke in India, to having a truly international fast tracked career track across various domains, including currently as a CFO…definitely was not something he planned to attain in as much time!
Well, according to Abhishek, it does look all promising & wonderful - from fancy hotels and residences to the corner office - but there have been some significant challenges interspersed through this journey, even some life threatening ones. Moving countries and career as exciting and thrilling as it may sound, has not been easy for his wife and his son as they have adjusted and readjusted and then adjusted again…add to that life’s regular setbacks, it only makes it harsher.
That said, be it success or stress there have been two basic beliefs and emotions that have invigorated Abhishek all along…and I am sure there are several others who relate to this:
A. Unflinching Optimism – His mantra…All’s for the Best! He borrowed it from a King’s story that he read in Grade 1 (and not 3 Idiots!! J)…so you can imagine how long this has stuck with him and therefore how well ingrained it is ;
B. Simple & Genuine Love – couldn’t be better defined than my college love who has stuck with me through all the challenges, emotions and life’s vagaries…add to that all the genuine friendships they made along the way and his parents that believed in him and respected him all along!
Abhishek wants to leave you with one thought (or perhaps a task), “Each of us have our own measures of success and thereby our very own beliefs of what got (what will get) us there…For some it is who your neighbor is, for some it is a good nights sleep laced with smiles all around you! I know what my definition of success is (I do not want to share it here but I know I have already achieved it) – I urge each of you reading this piece to define yours…and let it not be your friend or your neighbor who defines it for you!”
All (for) the Best!
