When choosing your protective style keep in mind the health of your hair, time , personal preference and characteristics of your hair.
Long Term Protective Styles 🔒:
( kept in for 1-3 months )
•Great for people with damage from too much manipulation
•Can be patient and gentle with installation and take down
Styles: extensions such as weave , crochet braids , braids , two strand twist , etc.
Be sure to clarify your scalp at least every two weeks with this style to decrease build up. Ensure to go over scalp with a moisture mist or loc conditioner to decrease build up and restore moisture
When taking the style down don’t be afraid of the shedding remember your hair was placed away during shedding. If hair shedded has white bulbs on the end you have experienced hair loss. Get your ends trimmed and a steam treatment after these styles !
Short term protective styles ✂️:
( 1-2 weeks )
Great for people with:
* Damaged hair ( allows better access for moisturizing )
* Likes to change hairstyle regularly * Hair tangles easily and often
* Those who do not like hair extensions * Delicate edges
Styles include :
Crown braids , two strand twist , buns , French braids , wigs , crown rolls , anything that provides protection to ends and allows easy access to hair and scalp
Low Manipulation Hairstyles🎯:
( little to no daily handling)
Great for people with : * family healthy hair * Can get 2 day hair or longer
* Don’t require daily moisturizing * Hair doesn’t tangle easily * Doesn’t have hand in hair syndrome
Braids , two strand twist , buns , and can include , twist outs , Bantu knot outs , perm rod sets , roller set , as long as they are no restyled everyday
