Action star and martial artist Scott Adkins is one of the most underrated performers of this generation. His skills and acting chops would have propelled him to A-list status immediately had he been around back in the 80s or 90s. Due to the changing times, the official successor of Jean-Claude Van Damme has been relegated to direct-to-video fare, although he has been slowly breaking into mainstream films with supporting roles in THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, ZERO DARK THIRTY, THE EXPENDABLES 2, CRIMINAL and DOCTOR STRANGE.
Over the past couple of weeks, Adkins has teased on his official Facebook that his next project would be an adaptation of Accident Man, based on a character from the graphic novel from the defunct monthly UK comic Toxic!, which was written by Pat Mills in the early 90s. In a seperate report, @deadline has revealed that Jesse Johnson (SAVAGE DOG, THE PACKAGE) would be directing, and actress Ashley Greene (THE APPARITION, TWILIGHT) had been cast as the female lead. Described as having a 'Deadpool-esque' tone, “The story centers on the life of Mike Fallon, a high-class hitman, known for making assassinations look like unfortunate accidents. Fallon’s cavalier attitude changes the day his ex-girlfriend, Beth is murdered. He teams up with Beth’s new girlfriend Charlie (Greene) on a murderous rampage to find out who killed her.” The Deadline article doesn't mention Adkins, which is odd; but expect other outlets to independently confirm this shortly. Principal photography begins this month in London.
The plot sounds like a mix between DEADPOOL and Jason Statham's MECHANIC franchise, which wouldn't be a bad combo honestly. I would like to see them change the title though. Accident Man sounds more like a parody than I think this is going to be, but that's just my opinion.....#AccidentMan #ToxicComic #ScottAdkins #AshelyGreene #JesseVJohnson #JesseJohnson #PatMills #TheGeekMansion
