Steven Gerrard expects Rhian Brewster to bounce back from the high ankle sprain he sustained during Liverpool U23s' game against Manchester City last Friday.
Rhian suffered a heavy fall during the young Reds' 3-2 Premier League 2 defeat and left the field on a stretcher.
Following an initial diagnosis of ligament damage, Brewster will undergo further tests this week to determine the full extent of his injury.
Gerrard said: "Rhian is a great kid and a fantastic footballer. He is a mentally strong kid as well and I’m sure he will bounce back.
He’s got the right physios and doctors and Critch and Mick Garrity will get around him and keep his spirits up, and he will bounce back.
All players bounce back from injuries. It is a setback, it’s disappointing for everyone involved, and there may have been a chance he might have been available for the FA Youth Cup game with Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday as well.
Everyone knows I’m such a fan of Rhian. Of course the kid is down at the moment. We are still waiting for further tests and results to see the full extent of the injury, but he’s got everyone’s support here.
Everybody is rallying around him and making sure he stays in the best place he can be in."
Get well soon, lad!
