I was raised Amish and at age 15, I escaped in the middle of the night without telling anyone goodbye. My departure was permanent. I left the only world I had ever known, jumping into a world that did not speak my language, wear my clothes and understand my problems. My skin looked white; therefore, I must be privileged and of the elite class, not a minority teenage girl falling through the cracks of society. @TorahBontrager • • •
