Happy Saturday everyone! Don’t forget to allow yourself just a few minutes of movement a day to get your system going! This was about a 12 min sequence sped up so anywhere from 10-15 min a day is enough to get your body where it needs to be to have you feeling good!

Learning to rebuild my relationship with the floor 🦎.

It used to be there as a child 👶🏾 then got lost in translation til I was an adult 🤦🏽‍♂️. Training jiu-jitsu and practicing yoga during my college days helped bring it back! I’m excited to continue to rebuild, reconnect, and rediscover the language I once used to have. .

👉🏽Here’s some prep work I did to get ready for my one arm chin-up training today... (see IG story)

💪🏽If you’re looking to get stronger with your pulling abilities then training the shoulders is vital! .
.
💥First start with learning to hang while keeping the shoulders engaged. (You can always use a box or something under your feet to support your weight if hanging feels impossible right now).
.
💥Then work to gain control of your scapula (shoulder blade) by adding in straight arm scapular pulls. Once this feels strong you can start adding circular scap pulls. Eventually working towards one arm scap hangs and pulls. 🦍
.
.
This stuff definitely takes time and shouldn’t really be rushed. We all have different bodies and start at different levels. Do what you can safely perform and build from there! .

Got Grip?! ✊🏽🦍

Here’s a circuit I worked in today aiming to tie in some grip work. There’s lots of ways to get more bang for your buck with certain movements if the proper application is used.

Here I used @battleropeexercises for a reverse rows and did farmers carries with bumper plates as opposed to something with a handle. Although the weight was less than what I could carry the grip gainz were real!! .
.
There are many ways to train the grip and sometimes it can be a limiting factor for people with certain movements. I’ve been inspired a lot from @nvstrength and his crazy grip skills from a rock climbing background (which I believe is essentially the best way to train the grip). If you aren’t able to climb frequently though, there are some other great ways to get strong there! .

Let’s talk Hip Flexion 🕺🏾🙌🏽

Today my client and I worked on some standing hip flexion from both bent leg and straight leg positions! .
.
💥Disclaimer💥
👉🏽 This shit is NOT easy, as you can tell from my clients facial expressions 😬😂!!
.
.
Here we are locking the body into a position that we can gain feedback from so when “cramp city” begins to occur we can use the rig to recruit more tension. More tension = more strength and control = mobility gainz 💪🏽. Now this video isn’t a perfect representation of how it’s supposed to be done but it’s a realistic one! This is WORK and my client is working very hard to gain more mobility and be in less pain! .

We worked a few angles but in the clip we are working at about 45 degrees and applying some @functionalrangeconditioning based PAILs and RAILs contractions at each end range (bent and straight leg). .
.

Got things going today with a @stickmobility flow to open up the body and start my week off right!!

The sticks are a great way to actively open up lines of tension throughout the body and truly work on building strength in ranges of motion where you may not have it. .
.
I’m not very “bendy” and never have been so tools like the sticks help provide tons of great feedback and really expose some weaker points of mine! .
