People always ask me how do I stay in shape without working out? Well it's not that I don't work out.I just don't have a strict plan like Mondays chest,Tuesday legs and so on...I hit major muscle group two times a week,and the thing I'm doing whenever I can is body weight training.And I don't mean pushups.They are great ,but if you want to build a great physic you'll have to go a way further.I mean one arm pushups for ex.Obviously you won't be able to do it straight away but the point is don't get stuck into the gym just chasing the weight.You have to hit the muscle from every angle.Variation is the key to get the functional body.I've been doing this for years now and took me a lot to realise this.Train smart and rest hard.
