On this day in 1998 Saint Etienne released the second single from Good Humor. "The Bad Photographer" is a fun tune about someone doing the dirty on someone else by taking their art as their own and becoming famous. Recorded in Sweden with Tore Johansson producing, this was a bit of a new sound for the band: less electronics, more live instruments, orchestral and horn section elements. The song represents the album well and, to me, was a modern take on The Carpenters with mid-tempo harmonies, chord changes and melancholy lyrics. It's just terrific.
