This was my second time at the summit of this peak. Just a few months ago this was a trying challenge, one that left me beyond exhausted by the time I reached the top. .
This time I found myself breathing easier, I'm not saying it was a walk in the park but it felt more like a confortable old friend, one that pushes you but doesn't over do it. It's amazing how far and how much stronger you you can become when you put your mind to it! .

Cucamonga peak- 1st peak out of the 6 peaks. Probably the hardest hike for me. 12 miles with 4300 elevation gain is no joking matter. The view at the end is so worth it though.

Mt. Cucamonga!

Hike #11 of the off (running) season. Was going to attempt a solo hike up Cucamonga Peak and happen to discuss it briefly in a hiking group. So was kindly invited to join a group heading that way same day so I said yay!

However without service we weren't aware they were running late. I met up with another hiker waiting for same group and after 20 min wait, I made the executive decision 😂 We.Were.Going.Up! So we did!
Group eventually made it and we chatted on peak. All.Is.Great!

Mt Cucamonga/Cucamonga Peak is the 2nd of 6 peak challenge, part of San Gabriel Mts. Out and back hike.

Trailhead Location = Ice house Canyon Trailhead (I used 7636 Ice House Canyon Rd., Mt. Baldy, CA 91759)
There's a small parking, I arrived at 6:10 for 6:30 departure and there were only about 3 spots left so arrive by 6 AM! If it's full park up mountain!
You will need Adventure/National Park Pass AND at the trailhead a free permit. You keep the yellow, stuff the white in the box- they do sometimes check!
Plenty of people on the trail on a Sat. all very friendly not too complicated of a trail to follow but prepare of course.

Elevation= 8,859'
Gain = about 4,300'
Distance = 12 mi
Duration = well... some websites show about 7hrs however it took us 9:20 hrs with 2 hours combined rest (1 hr on peak/lunch and a few rests throughout). She was quicker going up- no surprise there! I was quicker coming down but we waited and supported each other!
Difficulty = Super hard, Super strenuous. This is like Mt Wilson's evil twin! That last section 1/4-1/2 mile I don't know how I did it!
Terrain= ROCKS and more rocks and more rocks, all sizes, shapes, colors. Did I mention rocks?😣
Never ending switchbacks for about 2nd half similar to Mt Baden-powell.
Single track, narrows quite a bit and slippery at times due to those darn rocks 😬
You'll be happiest with poles on the way down (I don't usually heading up). My legs were still tired from Mt Wilson - I need a break!

Bring: munchies, min 3L of electrolytes /water, 10 essentials and a good sense of humor you'll need it for this one! Large part of trail is exposed but there is some shade so. re-apply sunscreen as needed.

.📍การฝึกด้วยท่า Crunch เริ่มต้นจากการนอนหงายหน้าราบลงบนพื้น นำมือมาประสานกันไว้ที่ท้ายทอย วางเท้าสองข้างห่างกันประมาณหัวไหล่ ตั้งเข่าชันขึ้นมา เป็นท่าเตรียมฝึกท่า Crunch.

.1️⃣ เริ่มจากการสูดลมหายใจเข้าจนสุด จากนั้นออกแรงเกร็งกล้ามเนื้อหน้าท้องเพื่อยกลำตัวส่วนบนขึ้น โดยไม่ให้หลังล่างยกขึ้นจากพื้น พร้อมกับปล่อยลมหายใจออกจนสุด.
.2️⃣ ค่อยๆ คลายกล้ามเนื้อหน้าท้องออก ลดลำตัวช่วงบนลงกลับไปสู่ท่าเตรียม พร้อมกับสูดลมหายใจเข้าจนสุดนับเป็น 1 ครั้ง.
