I did a post a while back about how you should train for a 6-pack and I promised if you asked, I’d do a follow up with training your core.
.
Before we go on let me define what the core is because the term is so often used to refer to your abs or midsection when in fact it's your body minus the limbs and your head. .
This is why I’ve included the column labelled Compound Exercises which includes staple lifts for any strength training program. Yes the chest press and pull-ups are also relevant but there’s not enough space.
.
The core is like a cylinder or canister. It includes the usual suspects such as the abs and obliques but there’s more such as the transverse abdominis, the pelvic floor, the diaphragm and muscles that run down the back.
.
We need a strong core to help transfer force from out lower body to our upper body as well as resist external force, especially if you’re in some kind of contact sport.
.
Also, having a well developed core will make you look and feel awesome.
.
So, in order to train the core thoroughly we need to train it to resist so that’s why I have the other 3 columns:
.
✅Anti-Extension ✅Anti-Rotation
✅Anti-Lateral Flexion
and a bonus one...
✅AntiPasto😋, joking😂
.
I’ve provided you with some examples of exercises but there are plenty more where they came from.
