What’s your favourite ab exercise?

Don’t forget, you can’t target ab fat by doing these exercises

There’s some debate about whether there’s even such a thing as upper and lower abs. This is understandable since you can see in the picture your rectus abdominis is one sheet of muscle separated by tendons which creates the 6-pack effect.
.
Regardless of this argument it does seem that certain exercises target the lower part of your 6-pack more than the upper portion. .
This doesn’t mean that you isolate all the work done to one specific area, it’s just that the activation is greater in the lower abs than it is in the upper abs and there are exercises that do the opposite.
.
What I’ve done is presented you with 4 solid ab exercises for targeting your abs and given them in order of effectiveness at targeting the upper and lower portion of your abs.
.
Hanging leg raises are the best IMO because they’re the most effective for lower abs and place second for upper ab activation.
.
Whilst hanging leg raises are my favourite, the limitations for it are grip strength and ab strength.
.
It’s definitely not for beginners.
.
Work your abs with varied rep ranges. I see way too many people only doing high reps. Like, 1000’s of reps. If that’s you, try to add work in the 6-12 rep range.
