Winter Houses to donate: For 140 years Foresters Financial have been investing in communities. This year one of their projects is to help community stray cats in partnership with Cat Rescue Network. They have purchased the components required to build 18 large winter houses for stray cats. Each house will consist of a 151 gallon rubbermaid tote, insulated with 1 inch styrofoam, taped with Gorilla tape, and filled with straw.
On October 21 from noon until 4 p.m. volunteers from Foresters Financial and CRN will be assembling these shelters in a community building in Vanier. It is a family event. Experienced 'shelter making' volunteers will be doing the cutting and assembly and younger children will be fixing our logos and decorating, perhaps signing them so that the cats will know who helped them :) We could still use a few more volunteers to help with setting up prior to the event and taking down/cleaning up afterwards, supervising about 3 to 4 young children during the event.
If any local rescue, rescuers would like some houses free of charge, contact firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know how many you need. We will divide the number of houses available by the number of requests, first come, first served. All we ask is that you are presently and actively involved in caring for community cats and that you pick up the completed houses in Vanier at the end of the workshop.
