Aftermath of a 5:00 Plank

Over the weekend I posted the #teamrowan1p daily fitness challenge I’ve put at my team
.
Yesterday’s challenge was simply, Plank to failure
.
To encourage the team to take part, anyone that beat my time got 10 bonus entires into my monthly @1stphorm Gift card giveaway.. but I wasn’t posting my video until 10pm and they had to be uploaded to our Facebook group before then
.
I woke up up to @eric.work.in.progress crushing a 4:38 Plank so I knew I had to bring my A game
.
I haven’t held a Plank for longer then 2 or so minutes since the academy so this was a fun way to challenge myself as well
.
I hit 5:03
.
I was shaking like a fucking tree!
.
Guess what?
.
I got beat! By 1 second!!!! (Maybe even less!)
.

Unfortunately Joe, his wife @crystaldmaza, both members of my team, and their family have been temporarily displaced from their home in Wilmington NC, by hurricane Florence and have yet been able to return home. Happy they’re keeping positive and took part in the team challenge!

You can all breath a sigh of relief now my 30 day challenge is up and the progress snapchats and posts will now cease 😅🤣 today I died a little while trying to complete my very “proportion-challenged” plank. But it’s done and dusted! 5 minutes of hell but it’s done! 💪🏼 complimented by 100 crunches and 40 sit-ups 😓 my squats ceased at 85 on day 26 due to knee complications but was determined to continue on to finish the rest of the challenge. Glad it’s over but stoaked with the results and looking forward to hopefully maintaining a quality balance of exercise in my daily schedule. I’ve been working a lot on my thinking 💭. In all things, I’ve been trying to live more in the “now”. Why are we always in a rush when we’re in traffic- where are we perpetually going?
Why are we always planning ahead WHILE something is happening- why can’t we enjoy what it is and when it is?

While running 5 miles of hills on Thursday, I looked down to see 3.1 miles on my watch.
I am working on simply thinking “I am at 3.1”. But for a long time I used to think: “wow I was JUST at 2.1 I’m not going anywhere”. On Thursday, though, I thought “YOU ARE ALREADY at 3.1 let’s get to that 4.1: one step closer”. It’s not perfect, but that mindset is A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT- and a literal step in the right direction.

For today: It’s already MONDAY, not “only” Monday.
I get to go to work, not “have” to.

Change your perspective. Change your thinking. Change your experience.

Сегодня побит личный рекорд- 5 минут в планке! Стояла перед зеркалом, чтоб соблюдать все углы, как надо🔥my abs burn like hell! Gee, I’ve never thought it’s gonna hurt that bad but it’s definitely worth it! And on the plus side it’s the next best thing if I can’t hit the gym.

Perhaps I’m making excuses for the missed trainings, but thought about it and still nope, just can’t 😭gotta get this eye thing sorted out then can move on to working out.

Tomorrow is going to be a challenging day as my son has to be in theatre... Never easy with him being null by mouth.. can't eat past 7.30am so early wake up to make him something delicious and filling... my plan is to stay hydrated and try fit a blast in first thing... Today was good.. I learnt that listening to an interesting podcast will distract your mind when trying to do a 5 minute plank challenge after a HIIT blast.
