Congrats to Jenna on her first sub 4!! She fought hard for this one today! There is nothing easy about the 26.2 distance! Jenna and I worked together the final 9 weeks leading up to this race and in that time she scored a huge half marathon PR and a 4 min marathon PR! Those are big accomplishments! Last Fridays Cheshire 5k race 😊 so much fun and pain! It's the first time I've done a 5k race so this is my official PB but I've been hoping to run under 18 like unmanaged in training once so I was a little disappointed 😒 I ran it really well and managed my pace quite well with the last km being the fastest. I was over taking the whole race I just didn't quite have the pace I thought I'd have. I just need to get stuck into my training and get a really solid 3 months of getting everything right and I'm sure I can smash this. It's been a bit rubbish with little injuries for the last 4 months nuts that's out the way now! This race was amazing though so many great runners I was middle of the field with this time! Your mind can be your greatest ally or your fiercest enemy. Learn to recognize when your mind is being your enemy & sabotaging you. I can see it in workouts when my mind just tells me- this is rough- you can just stop this interval. Or in a race- where I think welp- you put in all this hard work for another bad day. Or in life- when I think- do you really think you're gonna get anywhere running? You've already had a rough go of it for 2 years with little progress. Take back control. You get to choose what you believe and you need to control how you think. Running is just one avenue of mental game application - but really- you have so many ways everyday where you choose to let your thoughts encourage you and give life to your hopes and dreams- or throw cold water on them. Win that battle of the mind- one thought at a time. ;-)

However, at the end, when I was presented with either doing steps or playing with my son who had been patiently waiting, I opted for pitching to him in a batting cage! Most days just showing up is half the battle. I was dreading this morning's run -- it was hot, my allergies have been terrible, I ate horribly the night before, and I'd had a track workout yesterday morning, so I was sure my legs would be fried from that, especially since I didn't do proper recovery. But I showed up anyway, prepared for a struggle run. It wasn't easy, but I'm quite pleased with my pace given the circumstances. It's been my experience that just showing up, taking the next indicated action, and then leaving the results up to God is a winning formula in life and on the road. Regardless of the outcome, I know I did my part, and that's a success! #SpartanRace today was freaking awesome! I jogged, climbed, I crawled, and I jogged and climbed and crawled some more!!! πŸ˜‹ & did it all with my new friend, who was the best partner a girl could ask for!
