Jay grew up on the Westside of Jackson, MS. As you may know from geography class, Jackson is the capital of Mississippi and the city is named after the nation's 7th president Andrew Jackson. What you probably didn't learn is that Jackson is the murder capital of the state.
Being a black male with braids and tatoos from West Jackson, Jay was stereotyped alot before people got to know him. He once told me about a conversation in a job interview where the guy said to him "Wow I'm amazed that someone like you can articulate so well." Now many of us would have got up and left but Jay remained calm looked him in the eye and said Yes Sir someone like me also graduated from High school and College so I'm very knowledgeable and qualified for several positions at this company. What if I had also stereotyped Jay just because he was from a rough side of town or because he had tatoos, wore braids in his hair and was younger than me, I would have never known such a wonderful loving man whom I'm thankful to call my Husband. The moral of this story is Never Judge a book by it's cover, you might miss out on a very good story! #JayDay #Feb5 #5days2go #husband #birthdaycountdown
