Embrace the sparkle! #strongsilvers @amberbjones
Never, ever would I used to go out in public like “this”. I started to find gray hair in my 20s and immediately began the color. It began as highlights a few times and year, and turned into me being a slave to the bottle. I colored my hair every 4 weeks for the last few years, but started to see the sparkle after only a week. I used root spray to cover me until my next appointment.
I always said that when I turned 50, I was going to “let it go.” What does that even mean? That is the conditioning of our culture speaking.
When I turned 40 this year, it hit me...do I want to keep this up for 10 more years?! And for me, it was no.
I did what all nerdy girls do, I researched and what I found is a community of strong, beautiful women, who have not “let themselves go”, but have found freedom in their natural beauty.
I want to be a role model for younger women, to embrace who they are instead of who our culture says we have to be.
I have always celebrated the differences and unique beauty in women of all shapes, shades, sizes, and colors. Now it’s time for me to do that for ME. No more hiding.
I used to believe that gray hair would make me look old, and now I believe gray hair is going to make me look like me. 💪🏼 #iamamasterpiece #embracethegray #findingmypurpose #goinggreygracefully #iamaworkinprogress
