I feel like a super-fan, school-girl watching this! If you know me, you know how much urban comedy means to me, when this show started in July 1992, I was 15 years old, I stayed glued to the tv and my foster-mom use to yell “turn that TV off, yo ass young to be listening to all that curs’in”...shiiit...I just turn TV down and got closer - and laughed my young ass off for 30 mins. When I went back to school in the Fall, I became a undisputed comedy/class-clown/ranking legend...#facts 🤣 ...fast-forward >> When I was 25, I had the honor of meeting and chillin’ with @bobsumner24 & @mstinagraham (Producers - Def Comedy Jam, Comic View, Bad Boy’s of Comedy, etc) they let me sit with them all-day while they screened talent for Bad Boys of Comedy, I remember all these comics coming up to me giving me their cell #’s, pitching me ideas, asking if I manage comics, etc - they thought I was somebody who could change their lives...and deep down, I wanted to be that person for them.
I grew to work and write with a lot of comics and invest in comedy shows. I’ve planned for a long time to make a serious contribution to this art-form, stand up is the hardest profession in entertainment, but they get the crumbs when it comes to exposure & money, it never seemed right. I am thankful that I’m finally in a position to create new opportunities for comics, what me & my team have coming will change urban comedy in a real way. 🔮
All-in-All this show was a shining moment in my childhood, those comedians were and still are ROCKSTARS to me and I will honor them & the art of comedy forever.
Congrats: @bobsumner24 @mstinagraham @unclerush @stanlathan @martinlawrence and all the comics who dream funny dreams! 🏆🎭
