I'm so proud! Today I did "Kungsholmen runt Stockholm" sub 1 hour on a Stand up paddleboard. It's unofficially the fastest time ever on a SUP around the Island. I finished at 59:27 and the distance is 8.72km. Avg speed 8.8 min/km. Good luck beating that one! Kai's tip for the weekend: Try it first. Being familiar with and attuned to your equipment is important as you get into racing. As you usually don't have time to stop and tweak or fix something while you are racing, it's a great idea to check your equipment either in practice or before the race. Everyone's been in that situation where, you try something a little different then what you're used to and it doesn't always go the way you planned. For example, you try a paddle that is just a little taller, or a little wider. Or you try gels for the first time, or a new hydration system, or a new rudder/fin or maybe making your ama a little bit tippier, or a different sized board. Those are all great things to try, however, I wouldn't do it for the first time in a race. Try it out once or twice before you go all out, because a little difference...makes a big difference. You'd be surprised how much of a difference a 1/4in makes in the height of your paddle, or the width of you blade. If you're trying different supplements like gels, or gummies, try it out a few times in practice, because if it makes you sick or dehydrated in the race, there's no coming back from it. If you are trying a new hydration pack, try it on, make sure it fits, make sure the hose is the way you like it, because once you start the race, the last thing you wanna do is be fiddling with your water pack when you're already tired and need water. I've been lucky enough to make all of these mistakes, so trust me when I saw, try it out a few times before you consider racing with it, no matter what it is. Athletes are creatures of habit, and we are used to what we practice. See you guys on the water...

Kai's tip for the weekend: Time x 2 on the water. Time on the water is one of the most important things for any kind of paddling. The more time you spend on the water, the better feel you have for the canoe, your paddle, how you feel in the boat, the little things that you wouldn't be able to get other than being in your canoe. Whether you're doing a hard workout, or just going for a float, time on the water is all money in the bank. I try to spend at least 10 hr a week, keyword "try", on the water. Which sounds like a lot to a normal person, but you figure you do one down run, that's roughly 1.5hr, one six man practice, that's about 1.5hr, that twice a week plus a long run on the weekends...2.5hr. You end up getting about 8.5hr on a normal week. Can't make it on the water every day, no problem, here's a little secret, go twice a day😱the days you can make it. Go before work, go after work, go on your break if you can, if you really want to do it, you'll find time for it. Can't make 10hr a week? No worries, but the time that you do spend on the water has to be quality time, make every second count. Everyone is not the same, some people do better with longer time on the water some shorter. I find that after two days of not paddling I feel a little weird, like something's off. And I know I can't make it on the water every day, so the days that I can, I try to go twice. So spend time on the water, it doesn't have to be every day, but if you really want to, you'll find time for it. See you guys on the water...

A SUPer day at the SUP Dragon Race Greifensee. After the 26 km of the previous day, I was a bit tired at the 11 km and I finished as 4th.
