Day 170/365 Mike Lewis.
Today's photo called for something different.
Some images, although taken for fun at the time, later become more poignant than you could ever imagine. This is Mike Lewis, Chairman of Barry Camera Club, taken almost 2 years ago during a Barry Camera Club landscape photography weekend in the Peak District.
Today started with the sad news that Mike suddenly passed away yesterday while out walking in the countryside and doing what he loves, taking photos.
Mike was the first person to speak to me when I first joined the club in 2014. He sat next to me that evening and talked me through the proceedings. His sincere welcoming attitude and his wicked sense of humour made me feel at ease right away and I decided then that I would enjoy being a member of the club. In my mind, Mike was Barry Camera Club, and I’m sure other club members would agree with that. He was a larger than life character who tirelessly devoted himself to the club and to the Welsh Photographic Federation. His love of photography was infectious. He will be sorely missed by many, many people amongst the Welsh photographic community.
Mike, your photos were, (in Mike’s very own words) excellent! Rest Easy. xx
