SMH. How can someone stoop so LOW?🤦♂️😯
A fraudster invented a daughter then claimed the youngster was seriously injured in the Manchester Arena bomb to make money for herself.
Susan Pain, who does not have any children, said her girl 'Sophie' had suffered multiple injuries in the attack which killed 22 people.
Pain, 51, from Merseyside, claimed insurance money for loss of earnings, stating that her child needed two major operations after the atrocity and she had to take time off work to look after her.
The Arena scam was the last of 31 fraudulent insurance claims she made, worth £142,334 overall. She also made money by claiming her relatives had cancer.
Detective Constable Ant Andrews, who the led the investigation for the City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED), said: “Pain exploited the tragic terror attack at the MEN Arena, as well as other examples of human suffering, to make a financial gain.
Judge Alan Conrad QC told Pain as she was jailed for two years: "I am sure all right-minded members of the public would be shocked, in particular, that you would use a tragedy which shook the nation as the basis for a fraudulent claim."
